e remembers the beginning, ages ago when the world was fresh and new. Before the loss of innocence and the depravity of mankind and their personal demons. He was one of many brothers, born for a higher purpose that has faded from memory-- to guide mortal kind. His people are few and far between now days. Endless wars with the depraved ones, although won, left his celestial brethren a broken and scattered people. Their losses many and their faith shaken, they retreated to the Heavens to recover their heavy hearts. From this realm, they continue to observe the world-- but rarely surface from it to interact.
Some of them, like Zachriel, descended from the heavens to earth to ease the suffering caused the depraved ones. The celestial ones are known to converge on groups to aid the world when there are particularly devastating global disasters. Often these catastrophic events end up happening when the celestial ones fail to spot the plans of the depraved ones.
As religions grow and cultures develop, many have come to call his celestial kind angels-- and have termed their depraved enemies as demons. But their true names stretch beyond the memory of mortal kind, and are older still then their recorded history.
Zachriel has been a force of salvation and hope that fancies himself a celestial guide over the dream scape and astral plane. He has walked the paths of history under various names and faces that have all faded into memory-- but his deeds are the things of small miracles for the families and communities that he has visited. From a medic on the front lines to the solider that survived long enough to relay critical strategic information. His presence, no matter how brief, is often used to ease the wealth of suffering he and his kind feel the world need not suffer. From the concentration camps of world war two that he might have spared his meals to the weaker, to the lash marks he took for the elderly woman who had spoken her mind. His footsteps have ventured even to the bedside of children to purge the presence of evil from their fevered minds and drive depraved ones back to their homes of eternal flame. He does not linger in one area too long, but where he touched? He left slivers of salvation and hope. Always soon after to slip away, and quick to find another victim of tragedy.
This current age would find the celestial being working under the guise of a Registered Nurse in the local hospital's ER Dept. He has integrated himself fairly well into the local society, living a respectful life as a mortal bachelor while grooming the corrupt corners of the city by night to stand vigil against the darkness there in.
